Regulatory Requirements
According to the 46 CFR Guidelines: Ch. 1, Subpart C, a vessel over 7.9 meters (26 feet) but not exceeding 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length must carry at least one ring buoy with a minimum diameter of 610 millimeters (24 inches). Vessels exceeding 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length are required to carry a minimum of three ring buoys, each not less than 610 millimeters in diameter.
