Seamless Integration with VictronConnect App

The VE.Bus Smart Dongle communicates system information directly to your smartphone using the free VictronConnect app. This allows you to monitor your battery's performance and system status conveniently from your mobile device, ensuring you stay informed about your marine electrical system’s health.

Compatibility and System Integration

The dongle is versatile and can be used in systems with or without a GX device, such as the CCGX. In setups that include a GX device and another source of temperature and voltage data (e.g., a CANbus battery), the GX device will take precedence, overriding the dongle’s data. However, the dongle will continue to provide live information through the VictronConnect interface and handle firmware updates independently.

In systems without a GX device, the VE.Bus Smart Dongle becomes the primary source for voltage and temperature data, allowing other connected devices to utilize this information for accurate voltage compensation. Additionally, in configurations featuring a MultiPlus-II, dongle, and GX device without another temperature and voltage source, the dongle’s data will be utilized.

Currently, the VE.Bus Smart Dongle does not support sending its temperature and voltage data as part of a VE.Smart network.

Advanced Temperature Sensing Options

The VE.Bus Smart Dongle offers two methods for sensing battery temperature:

1. On-Board Temperature Sensor: The default method where the dongle’s built-in sensor measures the battery temperature when mounted directly onto the battery case using the adhesive attachment. This provides direct temperature readings from the battery casing.
2. Optional Battery-Terminal Mounted Sensor: For improved temperature sensing accuracy, an optional sensor can be connected to the battery terminal. When this sensor is in use, it overrides the default on-board sensor, allowing the dongle to utilize the more precise temperature data from the terminal-mounted sensor.
